What is a Tournament Convenor?

- A tournament convenor is the person responsible for organizing, planning, and overseeing all aspects of a sports competition, tournament, or championship. They act as the central authority and  ensuring the event runs smoothly from initial planning to final reporting.

Key Responsibilities of a Tournament Convenor

Planning: Creating the event schedule, determining the tournament format, and setting up sub-committees.

Coordination: Acting as the main liaison between teams, coaches, and officials

Reporting: Submitting post-tournament reports, including final scores and financial results, to the governing board. 

Common Skills Recommended 

  • Leadership: Must be capable of managing people, volunteers, and solving problems on the fly.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent planning abilities to manage schedules.
  • Communication: Effective, timely communication with all stakeholders.
